Why Kids Should Learn About Gratitude
Gratitude is a valuable skill worth teaching from an early age. It builds resilience, kindness, and perspective.
- Boosts empathy. Children learn to recognize the needs of others and demonstrate compassion.
- Strengthens family connections. Thankfulness encourages more positive interactions at home.
- Builds emotional awareness. Children become more mindful of their feelings and experiences.
Recommended Gratitude Books
One of my favorite ways to teach gratitude is through picture books that celebrate thankfulness. They’re a simple way to open up meaningful conversations during the season.

Thanksgiving Bookmark Supplies
You don’t need much to get started with this printable. Here are the basics:
- Printer (I have this one)
- Paper
- Coloring tools (crayons, markers, or pencils)
- Scissors
- Laminator or contact paper (optional)
I have the HP printer 8710, but it’s no longer available. It’s been running well for years now. Consider another HP Instant Ink-ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.
Recommended Fall Printable Packs
If you’re looking for more seasonal fun, I also have fall-themed printable packs that encourage learning through play. They pair well with the bookmarks for a well-rounded activity set.

How to Make a DIY Gratitude Bookmark
Bookmarks are easy to put together and can be personalized by each child.
- Print the pages on heavy paper or cardstock.
- Let your child color and decorate the designs.
- Laminate the bookmarks for durability, especially if they’ll be used daily.
