Christmas Rock Painting Crafts for Kids

We started our painted rock crafts for kids with picking out some smooth rocks of different sizes. We got half a dozen rocks, but you can get as many as you would like. Then my daughter picked her top favorite colors. As you can see, she has many favorites!

I let her choose how to paint her rocks. Some were painted in one plain color and others had a mix of several colors. It was a nice time where she was getting creative while we chatted about Christmas and other activities that we wanted to do during this wonderful time of year.

Painting Rocks for Kids

It is awesome to come up with painting on rocks for kids to enjoy and display. For our craft, we used:

  • acrylic paint in many colors
  • paintbrushes
  • pain tray
  • felt Christmas stickers
  • felt Winter stickers

The rock painting designs that kids come up with will floor you. Who knew that using rocks, paint and stickers could be so fun?! Once the rocks are completely dry, it is time to add the stickers to make them unique and special. They are such a great Christmas craft!

My daughter had fun placing the felt stickers on the rocks in strategic places. The funny thing was that put a lot of thought into which sticker when where. This is what some of her rocks look like. We put them on our front yard to make it more festive and for guests to enjoy them when they would walk or stop by.
