How to stay safe around a campfire?
Staying safe around a campfire is all about being smart and mindful. Here are some simple tips to keep you and your loved ones safe while enjoying the warmth and fun of a campfire:
Keep a Safe Distance
Make sure everyone stays at least three feet away from the fire. This distance helps prevent accidental burns and keeps kids and pets safe.
Supervise the Fire
Never leave the campfire unattended. Always have an adult watch over the flames, especially if kids are nearby.
Use the Right Fuels
Stick to dry wood, and avoid using flammable liquids like gasoline to start the fire. These can cause dangerous flare-ups.
Control the Flames
Keep your fire small and manageable. A campfire doesn’t need to be huge to keep you warm!
Have Water Nearby
Always keep a bucket of water, sand, or a fire extinguisher close by. In case the fire gets out of hand, you’ll be prepared to put it out.
Extinguish Properly
When you’re done with the fire, make sure to put it out completely. Pour water on the ashes and stir until everything is cool to the touch. No smoking embers should remain!
By following these tips, you’ll have a safer and more enjoyable campfire experience.
