Simple Valentine Heart Toddler Activity

I put this super simple Valentine heart toddler activity together because my daughter loves gluing things together. So I went all crazy and cut out tons of hearts for this activity. I cut the construction paper into strips and then folded them in a zig-zag pattern and flattened them. I then cut out the hearts so it made like 6 at a time, super quick.

As you can see, this is a very simple toddler activity but it’s supposed to be that way. I love to do crafts that not only are fun but build up the confidence in the kids as well. This way, they’ll be more focused on their creativity and critical thinking and be less worried about mistakes or other things that might be happening during the activity.

This is a fun way to let the kids use their own hands and minds to create a simple Valentine’s Day craft.

How do you explain Valentine’s Day to a toddler?

Valentine’s Day is a special day celebrated by many people all around the world, and explaining it to your toddlers can be a fun and enriching experience for them.

In simple terms, you can tell them that Valentine’s Day is a special day when we show people that we care about them. Just like how we give hugs and kisses to show our love, on Valentine’s Day, many people give flowers, cards, gifts, or do nice things for the people they care about, especially on this day.

Crafting is a great way to help toddlers understand Valentine’s Day. You can make homemade cards together with hearts, flowers, and sweet messages to give to family, friends, and loved ones.

This hands-on Valentine’s Day activity can help them learn about expressing love and caring for others in a fun, creative way. Plus, it’s a great bonding moment for you and your little one!

I love being able to have so many books in our house so that when we need a bit of downtime for the kids, they can easily pick up a book and start reading. It’s really as simple as that.

Some of these books I have recommended are read by my kids and I and we have certainly enjoyed them!

Valentine Heart Toddler Activity Supplies

Just gather up the simple list of supplies needed below for making this adorable Valentine heart toddler activity!

  • construction paper (pink, red, and another color)
  • marker
  • glue
  • scissors

See I told you it was super simple. I traced a heart onto the construction paper in marker. My daughter at first glued each individual heart on the paper but then decided to place the glue on the paper first and then I told her to trace around the heart with the glue stick. She then proceeded to plop on the hearts like there was no tomorrow.

She didn’t really care to follow my heart pattern. My son, however, was very precise in his placement of the hearts and made them go upside down as they followed the outline.

You can easily let the kids take charge of this craft as long as you’re close by for supervision. But once they get the hang of it, I have a feeling that they’re going to be loving it and making so many fun hearts!

You can also use whatever colors of paper for this activity, too. Pink and red are a popular choice for Valentine’s Day but you can easily use whatever color you want.

We’re not big on Valentine’s Day here but I do enjoy a good heart craft. I don’t love the commercialism of this day but I love all the pink, red, hearts, and chocolate. Great time of the year for chocolate pick me up.
