Why do books get turned into movies?
For the most part, books get turned into movies because they’re popular books. However, there are times when a movie is based on a book just because it’s a good storyline, which can then make the book suddenly really popular when it hasn’t been before.
Is the movie ever better than the book?
This is up to each person to decide! If you’re having the kids read the book and then watch the movie, this makes for a great discussion afterward.
I think that it’s a good idea to read the book before watching the movie because the book always has a few extra details and a larger plot because there’s no way that a movie can fit all that into a two-hour time frame.

Do movies about books typically follow the book well?
Book lovers will argue that a movie never does a book justice – and many people agree with that. It’s because of the fact that books can use words and spend page after page, drawing in the reader so that they can visualize it on their own, making it their own.
A movie, on the other hand, only has a short amount of time that they can get the words from the book onto the screen in an exciting way. The movie will almost always leave out things from the book because there just isn’t the time or the ability to add in all the minute details.
The other fun aspect of a book-movie difference is that a book is a fun way to use and explore your imagination. Everyone will read the words on the pages of the book and imagine the story how they want. But when it’s a movie, everyone is watching the same movie and taking it in without much wiggle room for imagination.
This is what makes the comparison so fun and unique!
