Ready to head back to school yet? Me either, however, the time is here and we all need to be on board. Want to ease your child into their regular school routine?

Try these back to school addition puzzles to have the practice their addition skills in a fun and hands-on way. Not only do these addition puzzles help your child learn, they also let them go at their own pace as well. They are a great way to encourage your child, without overwhelming them.

My daughter loves these and it’s a fun way to get them counting as they look for the correct answer. It also doesn’t tie them to worksheets and makes math more fun.

While my kids do enjoy worksheets, sometimes we just like to play around with math blocks and manipulatives and talk through our math problems. It’s a nice way to change things up once in a while to keep math fresh.

Back to school addition puzzles Supplies

  • Printer
  • Paper/Cardstock
  • Laminator (optional)
  • Scissors

Print these puzzles out onto paper or cardstock for better durability. Cut them out and you can laminate them if you’d like to continue to reuse them. Mix them all up and have your child match up the correct answer.

Laminating them is always a great idea because then you can pack them in your purse and have them handy for car rides, waiting rooms or other times when your little one may need or want something to do. Laminating keeps them tear free and they’ll last so much longer that way!

To extend this activity, read your favorite back to school book to get your kids mentally ready for school. I like to have the kids help set up their books and schools supplies so they know where everything is located.

Make it fun by creating some fun school bus crafts or setting up a sensory bin full of back to school supplies like a school bus and fun erasers.

Have them prepare some practice school lunches, my kids think it’s fun to pretend they’re going to school, we’re homeschoolers so we just take the food to eat outside, lol.
