Yeast and Balloon Experiment
Watch yeast bring science to life with this easy balloon experiment. Using just a few kitchen items, kids can explore how living organisms create gas through a fun chemical reaction.
Materials
- 1 plastic bottle clean and dry
- 1 tablespoon activated yeast or a yeast envelope
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- Warm water
- 1 balloon
- Funnel
Instructions
- Use the funnel to pour sugar and yeast into the bottle.
- Add warm water until the bottle is about halfway full.
- Gently swirl the bottle to mix the contents.
- Stretch the balloon over the bottle opening.
- Set the bottle aside and observe what happens.
