Fizzy Frozen Hearts Experiment

This fizzy experiment is such a great STEM activity for the kids!

Equipment

  • Wilton Mini Silicone Heart Mold, 6-Cavity Silicone Mold for Heart Shaped Cookies and Candy, Red
  • McCormick Red Food Color, 1 fl oz
  • Arm & Hammer Baking Soda, 16 oz (3 Pack)

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup baking soda
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • Red food coloring
  • Vinegar
  • Heart-shape silicone mold
  • Shallow bowl

Instructions

  • In a large mixing cup, stir together the baking soda and water until the baking soda is dissolved. Stir in red food coloring.
  • Pour the mixture into the heart-shaped silicone mold and freeze overnight or until completely frozen.
  • Pour vinegar into the shallow bowl.
  • Carefully lower the frozen heart into the vinegar.
