Fizzy Bat Experiment

Author Monique B

Equipment

  • AmeriColor, Super Black, .75 Ounce Bottle, Soft Gel Paste Food Color
  • Bat Cookie Cutter, 4.9" Made in USA by Ann Clark
  • Arm & Hammer Baking Soda, 16 oz (3 Pack)

Ingredients

  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Flat tray or pan
  • Small bowl
  • Spoon
  • Paper towel
  • Bat cookie cutters
  • Black or brown food coloring or watercolor paint

Instructions

  • Prepare a bowl of baking soda then add a bit of food coloring and a small amount of water to thin it out as needed.
  • Prepare a mixture that is similar to a thick toothpaste. If the mixture is too thin, add more baking soda.
  • Once you achieved the desired mixture and color, press it into your bat-designed cookie cutters.
  • Use a paper towel to soak up excess liquid off the top and clean around the edges.
  • Make as many bats as you want then arrange them into a flat tray or container to avoid dripping.
  • If you're ready, pour the vinegar and watch them fizz!
