I took the time out to actually fill in everything and we are not doing as bad as I thought. We’re changing things up a bit for science since I just purchased Supercharged science. We’ll see how it goes. I hope it gives us some extra umph to our schedule. We’ll still be lapbooking but I’d like to try something new to spice things up a bit.
M1 is on lesson 54 in math and we’re right in the middle of decimals. I thought fractions were kicking my butt but he has a great grasp of them now. I think M1 is struggling more with place values so we’re going to tackle those through some Math Mammoth worksheets before we move on.
As I write this, I just remembered we haven’t completed dictation in awhile. I’m going to have M1 work on his writing skills for the remainder of the year. With writing comes grammar so I’m just looking at integrating those two things together instead of having it as two separate components.
M1 is reading the third book in the How to Train a Dragon series and we’re still working our way through No Other Story. We haven’t been following along my read aloud list so after this book I hope to get back on it. We always run into a series or something that M1 really enjoys so I’m not really worried about it.
We’re still plugging away in french but I’ve decided to take a break from Latin. With all the puberty struggles, I’ve added in computer science instead since M1 would eventually like to program video games.
M2 is on lesson 24 and doing really well, I’m really glad we backed up and we’re also reviewing the previous day’s material before we move on which is helping him progress really well.
Our friends gave us some of their old workbooks they no longer needed and M2 has whizzed through them all. He loves workbooks, what can I say.
My baby took her first steps this week and I caught the aftermath of it on video. Damn iphone. Definitely not time to break out an avo cigar, because she’s going to get into some real trouble soon. Where has time gone, I feel old.
