Fun Facts About Sharks

Sharks can smell a drop of blood half a mile away.

They have sharp teeth and are huge predators that roam the oceans looking for prey. They can mistake surfers who are sitting on their paddleboards for seals.

They position themselves underneath the prey, then propel themselves towards the prey and launch out of the water with the prey in their mouths.

The prey doesn’t see it coming. They get ambushed and become a meal. But there are also smaller sharks like leopard sharks that weigh up to 40 lbs. The nurse shark is a bottom feeder that likes to eat crustaceans that are found on the ocean floor.

There are a ton of different sharks, who knew?

Sharks Worksheets for Kids

We love learning about new things. I don’t want the kids to be scared of sharks but rather educated about them. This is where these shark worksheets come into play.

I often find that fear is from things that are unknown, which is why we’re geared up and ready to learn all about sharks. And just because we’re learning about them doesn’t mean that we want to be out in the water near them – but it does educate us a little bit more about them and what they do.

The kids loved learning that there are so many types of sharks. It was a fun way to visualize the sharks in a friendly way for them to process.
