It’s no fun seeing your kids suffer, so when I know they need help with their health, I often turn to more natural ways of relief rather than jumping straight to drugs or treatments. We’re exposed to so many chemicals in our daily lives that it’s not always possible to eliminate everything but where I can make a difference is how I treat our illnesses. If I can treat it with natural means, then I’ve kept some chemicals out of our bodies. This doesn’t mean I’d rather lay on my death bed than visit the doctor, in fact I was just in there this week with my two sick kiddos. It just means if I have a natural way to treat something, that I’d rather try it first. We are huge fans of essentials oils, they have changed our lives. I love carrying around my travel size bottles because those get used the most, and it’s so handy. If you’re having any skin issues like dry skin, itchy bites, or eczema I love using lavender oil for my kids. I’ll mix lavender oil and coconut oil, mix them together in my hands and apply to the affected area. It’s a great soothing blend. Another option would be to add lavender oil to your favorite lotion if you don’t have coconut oil. Otherwise, I have the organic coconut oil, but I also use the fractionated coconut oil if it’s only on a small area which is liquid at room temperature.
I ensure that they’re not using any harsh soaps which can be horrible for their skin.
My son had the opportunity to try a necklace made of hazelwood from Pure Hazelwood. The necklace was made of 100% pure hazelwood from the Canadian boreal forest. Hazelwood is known to have anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe skin irritations, arthritis, teething pain and colic.
My son chose the one with obsidian rocks, he’s studied rocks and minerals and this one is his favorite. It was easy for him to wear and I didn’t have to fight with him to put on his lotions or oils each day. Instead, he was able to wear this necklace to help sooth his skin issues, he has extremely dry skin on his neck and back which may likely be eczema.
He wore it for a week before he noticed any changes and then he didn’t have to think about it and got use to the idea of wearing it, which is great. He goes swimming weekly so he had to remove it to do so.
