During the warmer months of the year, we get into the learning bug of finding out more about the ocean. This means that we want to have all the information that we can to find out all about the types of animals that are living in the water.

My kids love learning all about sharks, whales, sea turtles, penguins, and more so I love having a ton of different printables on hand for them to do just that.

The more that they can step back and realize that learning is fun, the more that we can open up the conversations about looking at all the things in the ocean. This also opens up the lines of communication as well so that the kids crave and want more.

I’m always amazed at the variety of ocean life. I think this is why we feel that we can never run out of things to learn and explore.

Even though we don’t live by an ocean, we tend to always find ourselves wanting to explore it and find out more about it. The kids are pretty much obsessed with ocean life and all things ocean so when we wanted to learn about whales, having great whale printables just seemed like the perfect fit.

Not only do these printables go over everything dealing with whales but they also help to edge that want to learn on even more.

The biggest thing that I add to our printables is great books to pair up with it. This is because every page of a book is packed full of even more great information and stories.

As you can tell from the wide variety of whale books below, some are stories while others are facts. The more you can let the kids dive into books, the more they’ll learn to love exploring and finding out things on their own.

I always love to keep a stack of books in almost every room of the house so that the kids can grab one and sit and read. I typically join them as well to be an example of an avid reader.

Remember to keep books in the car for travel, and also ask the kids what types of books they want to read. Their answers just might shock you, but they will give you a good idea of what they want to read.

If you can find books that they’ll love, that means they’ll pick them up and actually find the time to read them.

I have the HP printer 8710 but it’s not available anymore. It’s been running well for years now. Look for another HP Instant Ink-ready printer so that you can use their program to send you ink cartridges whenever your printer gets low on ink.

Let’s not forget that toys can be a great learning resource, too! We love to have toys in the house to play with but toys can be a great way for the kids to use the toys for learning objects as well. Puzzles are one of our favorites because not only are we able to do the puzzle together but we’re also able to solve something as a team. This creates a fun bonding moment that is awesome for family activities.

Stuffed animals are also great for imaginative play. The kids love putting on plays or making their toys come to “life” by giving them names, actions, voices, and more.

I love that they can easily and simply relate something fun to something that we’ve been doing. I have no problems with toys in the house that are intertwined with topics that we’re currently studying.
