I’m just like you – I like to plan but often find myself scrambling for a resource that keeps me in check and focus. And while I can put all the reminders on my phone that I want, the truth of the matter is that I’m still a good ol’ paper and pen type of person.

What I love about planning out my days is that it lets me zone in and just focus on the tasks at hand. Yes, I love being able to plan in advance as much as possible but also breaking down my daily tasks and goals is so important for my planning as well.

I’ve found that when I can sit down and focus on each individual day, it’s a much better overall outcome for me to do. This way I can prioritize and use that information in a way to better formulate a plan for the rest of the family, too.

The kids even like it so much that they’ve started planning out their own mini days as well! It’s never too early to start working on learning how to plan, right?

When we use this planner for our homeschooling days, it’s great because it allows everyone in the family to see exactly what is expected of them during the day. This means that the kids can look at my daily planner and know what they need to get done along with what I’m wanting to get done as well. It’s provided an open line of communication as well which is something that I’m always grateful for.

Recommended Homeschooling Books

Homeschooling is one of the biggest blessings in our household and I’m so happy that I’m able to do this. I’ve found that each year presents new challenges and obstacles which also means that I’m super excited to learn more as well.

Since I’m always talking to the kids about reading more and enhancing their reading skills, it just makes sense for me to do the same, too. Below are just a few of my top homeschooling book favorites that always tend to give some great advice.

It’s funny that I can read the same book one year and another and find totally different outlooks on the words that I’ve just read. Isn’t that the beauty of books?

Add these to your reading radar and let me know what others you love. I’m always looking for a great book that I can use to better our homeschooling process.

What is so important about planning out your days?

I get asked that question quite a bit so I think it’s one that is on a lot of people’s minds. It’s valid as there are a lot of people out there that just don’t like to plan.

But I see planning as a bit different than most. I see the opportunity to plan as a way to calm a bit of the chaos happening in our house.

Planning isn’t meant to make the household feel like it’s on a rigid schedule. I view planning as more of a way to stay on track with the day.

Because let’s face it. Something always comes up or happens that can cause things to change course. But when you have the day written out on what you want to do, it can be a fast and simple way to help you get refocused and get back on track quickly.

I use my daily planner as a guide to the day and once that helps me stay the course. I love how this planner lets me set out the daily schedule by hours so that I can really work on time blocking skills and time management.

I also appreciate that there is an entire goals section as well because we all know that it feels great to accomplish goals. When you write them down and make those goals come true, it’s truly an amazing feeling that you’ll want to keep going with!

I can even write out the meals for the day, which is something that the kids always look forward to reading. This way they know what’s on the menu without having to ask me every five seconds or so what is actually on the menu.

Being able to write out all my to-dos sometimes looks overwhelming so I really love that there is a spot for me to write out the top three that are the most important for the day. It’s a great reminder that even though I want to do it all, I don’t need to do it all and stress myself out.

Even if you’re more of a digital type of planner, having this as a reminder is great. I also think that writing out the things that need to get done for the day is the perfect way to remember them all, too. The more that I can stay on track and keep my brain focused, the more I’m going to get through all the things.

I hope that this daily planner helps you find an organizational rhythm that can help you stay on track and make it your best day possible! Baby steps go a long way in knocking out that never-ending to-do list!
