There are 8 components to the preschool curriculum:
- phonics reading kit
- colors and concepts
- drawing and art
- personal development
I started using this with my daughter who is 3 years old. We haven’t done any formal work with her other than our usual playing and discussing. She loves to do school like her brothers so she has her own book to write in which she loves.
I printed out the materials I wanted to use and placed them in a binder for her. So she had her own set of books to go through which she was very happy about.
There are no lesson plans for the curriculum, it’s really up to you what you’d like to go through with your child each day. Janine suggests teaching in small slots of time rather than one long lesson. I’ve found that my daughter does well with this method as well.
I was sponsored by Blue Manor to review their Christian Preschool Curriculum and am excited to share my experience as well as an awesome giveaway! All opinions are mine alone. For more information please read my full disclosure.
I printed my pages out double sided so that when we were working our way through the alphabet sheets she had to turn them over to check if she had the correct letter. We only did a couple letters at a time since I didn’t want to overwhelm her but I also wanted to move onto other aspects of the curriculum.
For a child who isn’t writing well yet, there are tracing pages for your child to practice their fine motor coordination. My daughter loved these sheets because she prided herself on remaining inside the lines as she wrote.
When we went through the numbers, I had my daughter trace over the numbers with her finger to practice forming her numbers. If she didn’t know the number then she could count the dots on the other side.
I was very impressed by the vocabulary ebooks. Each of the ebooks have huge color images with large text. I love this for my preschooler, depending on the subject, I’d print it out on a full page or with the vocabulary pages, I printed it 4 to a page to turn them into cards because there were so many pages.
The bible book has several passages that you should teach your child and have them do memory work in. You can then check off each time they recited the passage without error.
This is a well rounded curriculum which touches on very important lessons that are great for your preschooler to learn.
Along with the curriculum, there is a load of freebies like a free 3 month subscription to Lessontrek and more.
