When it’s your kid’s birthday, it’s so easy to get wrapped up in the presents to make it their special day. Well, while we’re not short of presents especially right after Christmas, we chose to have a fun filled day of trips for our son’s birthday and he had a blast.
Awesome Ways to Celebrate Your Kid’s Birthday
It’s easy to get wrapped up in the commercial affair of birthdays but three of us have birthdays near Christmas and it’s at a time of the year where funds can be low. And buying more toys when we just went through gifts from grandparents, aunts and uncles, it just seems like overkill. While we don’t want them to feel less special because their birthday is near Christmas, we do want them to appreciate the gift of family as well.
Instead we chose to take them for a day out. My animal lover knows everything there is to know about reptiles, dinosaurs, he also loves to build so we picked two places that we knew he would truly enjoy. We went to Ripley’s Aquarium in Toronto and Legoland in Vaughn.
Other ways to celebrate birthdays
Grab a basket of goodies and head out to your favorite park and have yourself a picnic, my kids love riding their bikes and walking along the trails. Unfortunately half of us have birthdays during the winter months.
We love the beach and heading to your nearest one is always a treat for the kids. They get to spend all day swimming, playing in the sand and you get to eat BBQ and enjoy the sun.
After a huge meal, this is our favorite family past time. It allows us to get some exercise while exploring nature and it’s enjoyed by all ages.
Our favorite spot in the whole world, Grandma and Grandpa spoil their grandkids and they know it. They love eating Grandma’s food and they enjoy their time together, nothing beats this place.
Our favorite place to be is touring the different exhibits in museums or aquariums. We love going during the weekdays when the crowd isn’t to busy.
A wonderful way to spend the day with kids of all ages because they have games and rides for everyone. Of course nothing beats the smell of hot dogs and cotton candy and all of the other fun stuff that happens at the park.
Ripley’s Aquarium is very interactive for kids and they love going under the tunnel to get up close and personal with the ocean creatures.
They’re also play areas where kids can go explore and they loved the underwater sub where they could pop their head up to look at the fish and other ocean creatures.
|While we were there we caught the staff feeding the stingrays. This was neat to watch as they were feeding them small pieces of fish.
Legoland was fun, as soon as you enter the park, there’s a ride where the kids get to shoot the bad guys and they get to go on as many times as they like.
While we were waiting to watch the 3D short movie, the kids explored the play area. They build towers to withstand earthquake forces.
They also built race cars so they could race each other. This was fun to watch them build and improvise their vehicle if they were too slow or fell apart as they landed.
My boys also enjoyed the rides and the younger two enjoyed the play structure and had to be called out from there before we left.
It was a fun filled day and the kids were exhausted by the end of the day but it was safe to say that they had a great time.
