I wasn’t going to post about M2, but since I did one about the 6th grade I thought I should include him as well.
If M2 was in public school, he would be starting junior kindergarten this year, which is both exciting and sad.
I printed out a daily calendar for M2 and placed it into a duotang with a letters and numbers workbook as well from Homeschool Creations. This has replaced our meeting book in Saxon math. We’re on lesson 15 in math, we weren’t doing it diligently over the summer but will do so a little bit more now.
We’re continuing on with Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons, we’re on lesson 40. We’ve had to slow down so I’m hoping to get back to it daily even if it’s only a little bit at a time. Other than math and reading, I don’t have a plan for much else at the moment. We reading a lot of picture books from 100 picture books kids should know and will work on some lapbooks. M2 joins in on science experiments or videos with M1, but I don’t have plans to work on anything of his own. My goal is to focus on math and reading.
I’ve placed all of M2’s books in one area so he can easily find everything, this is under our fish tank. I’ve also included his 100 chart, crayola dry erase board, dry erase alphabet and number books as well. Once school starts for M1, M2 likes to get all his books out to do school as well.
Yesterday was our first official day of school. M2 was so excited to have his own book, he wanted to color 2 pages today instead of just one.
This is what my school room looks like, well it’s just our living room. I homeschool M2 on the floor mostly but I now have a problem doing so. Someone else loves books as well, not her own books, only the ones that we are looking at and keeps stealing, chewing, ripping our books.
CM is crawling now, not so much crawling as she is scooching along like a walrus. We had to put up a baby wall to prevent her from getting into the kitchen. She loves getting to the TV and DVDs on the other side. There’s also the dog who sleeps there as well.
The other side is blocked by an exersaucer and big stuffed dog, which she tries relentlessly to crawl over. Homeschooling this year is definitely going to be more difficult but more fun with a baby running around. M1 does his work at the dinner table. We had a great half day and he did really well with Saxon, I was so happy, even if it’s just one day.
As you can see, we don’t have an official school room, I have school room envy. For those homeschoolers who have a room dedicated to school filled with book shelves, desks, maps and school supplies everywhere. For now, this will do.
